Registered Counsellor
Nick Cocking
I believe that the therapeutic relationship is key to being able to work together effectively, so I take a relational approach—working collaboratively with you to enable you to find the best way forward with whatever you have brought to counselling.
My practice is integrative, meaning I draw on a range of therapeutic models to suit your individual needs. While we may begin with a person-centred foundation, I may also incorporate elements from psychodynamic theory, Transactional Analysis (TA), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Attachment Theory.
Personal Introduction
As a recently-qualified counsellor, I bring all the latest learning, research and training from the counselling and psychotherapy field into my work.
Outside my counselling training, I have over thirteen years’ experience working in a listening and peer support role for a national charity.
I have also been actively involved as a lay member in public health initiatives for Sheffield and South Yorkshire, specifically around bereavement support and suicide prevention.
Experience
A safe environment, a place to explore and articulate anxieties, fears and hopes.
Sometimes it’s to identify fixed and unproductive patterns of thinking, behaviour and relating.
Whether you come feeling sad, unmotivated, angry, lonely, or just confused, I aim to help create that safe environment with you, and to help you to start to explore freely the feelings that you’re experiencing.
